Amahl and the Night Visitors

The Christmas story - “Amahl and the Night Visitors”, produced by the Manchester Community Theatre Players (MCTP) and Second Stage Professional Company, will be presented at the Hatbox Theatre Friday 12/21 & Saturday 12/22 at 7:30 pm and Sunday 12/23 at 2 pm.

This classic story (first presented on NBC Masterpiece Theater in 1951 and Hallmark Hall of Fame 1952 - 1965) relates the journey of the Three Kings to Bethlehem (the Epiphany). They stop to rest for the night in a poor village where they stay with a widow and her crippled child and experience a miracle. Villagers bring food and dance for the Kings. Sleep is interrupted by an attempted theft, but a miracle provides a joyous resolution.

The production is light opera, sung in English and very appropriate for children four and up and adults of all ages (one act 55 minutes in length). This is a novel holiday offering that through acting, singing and dance brings forth the joy and spirit of the holiday season.

When:
from Friday, December 21, 2018 7:30 PM

NH Tech Alliance January TechWomen Power Breakfast

Dot Sheehan, founder, president and CEO of Operation Hat Trick, headlines the first of 2019's New Hampshire Tech Alliance TechWomen Power Breakfasts on Wednesday, January 9. Sheehan will discuss the journey she took turning an idea spurred by a radio station trivia contest into a multi-million dollar, globally recognized charitable organization that supports the recovery of wounded service members and veterans. The January Power Breakfast will be from 7:30 to 9 am at the Portsmouth Country Club, 80 Country Club Lane in Greenland.

Operation Hat Trick, and Sheehan's journey to success, are both based on an idea that was born as the result of a Boston radio station trivia contest question - "What is the one thing most wanted by head-wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan?" The answer? Baseball caps to cover wounds, burns, swelling and bandages. Since this moment in 2007, combined with the loss of Navy SEALs Nate Hardy of Durham, NH and Mike Kich in Iraq in 2008, Sheehan's brand has grown significantly. With roots in the collegiate space - when the University of Notre Dame urged Sheehan to take her business national - the University of New Hampshire was the first to get involved.
