Concord, NH

The Kimball-Jenkins School of Art is celebrating 15 years of being the capital area’s community art school. Located at the historic Kimball-Jenkins Estate, the School of Art has taught nearly a generation of up and coming artists and art enthusiasts as well as featuring established local and national artists in its Carolyn Jenkins and Jill Wilson galleries. Founded in 1998 by the Carolyn Jenkins Charitable Trust trustees, the school grew from a concept to promote art education in a historic downtown setting to a thriving art school with over 1,200 students throughout the year taking workshops and classes.  A public birthday party will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 5-7 pm in the Carriage House at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate and School of Art. The celebration will include a student/faculty art exhibit with a short presentation at 5:30 pm by local artist and long-time art faculty member Barbara Filleul. Filleul will open a very special birthday present given to the School of Art by a donor to kick off the evening’s celebration.  All are welcome to bring gifts of support to celebrate the school’s milestone 15 years of educating artists of all ages, from 5 years to 88 years of age.

In addition to the student/faculty art exhibit in the Carolyn Jenkins Gallery, Dana Clemons White Mountain photography will be featured in the Jill Wilson Gallery (part of the Chamber's Art Concord gallery tour). Refreshments will be served, including an artsy birthday cake prepared by the Red Blazer Restaurant in Concord. There will be six opportunities to win a spot in one of the School of Art’s tremendously popular evening drop-in painting workshops. Information on summer art camp, art workshops, and fall art classes will be available. Decorations for the event are provided by Lyndsey Cole Events and flowers by Marshall’s Florist.  The public is welcome and gifts of support to celebrate the continuing success of the School of Art are appreciated.
