Black Diamond Fall, with author Joseph Olshan

Novelist Joseph Olshan visits Gibson's Bookstore to present his newest work, Black Diamond Fall!

From the acclaimed author of Clara's Heart and Cloudland comes a rich, literary mystery based and united by two real events that occurred at Middlebury College; the disappearance of a student during winter break; and the vandalism of the Robert Frost Homestead located on one of the outer campuses. Luc Flanders has just finished playing a game of pond hockey with his college roommates when he realizes he has lost something precious and goes back to the ice to find it. He never returns, and the police department in Middlebury, Vermont are divided in their assessment of what may have happened to him. Some feel that Flanders left on his own accord and is deliberately out of touch. Others, including detectives Nick Jenkins and Helen Kennedy, suspect that harm may have come to him. As the search for Luc Flanders widens and intensifies, suspicions about several different people, including his Middlebury College roommates and ex-girlfriend arise.

Landing the top spot at a nonprofit can be lonely. Who can you talk to who understands the unique challenges of this role that you have taken on?

This nonprofit roundtable is a unique forum in which new nonprofit leaders can come together to share experiences, challenges, solutions, and best practices. Topics will be selected by the group.

The roundtable will strive to:

• Set a tone that is conducive to brainstorming, sharing ideas, solving problems, and networking.
• Address topics related to the unique challenges and issues new nonprofit executives face every day.
• Deepen connections and build a community of support amongst participants.

If you want to build relationships with other nonprofit executives and are seeking more exposure to new ideas, this roundtable is a worthwhile investment.

Snow Sanctuary, with author Lee Hall Delfausse

Lee Hall Delfausse presents Snow Sanctuary at Gibson's, her novel of the trials and tribulations a young Olympic hopeful endures as she struggles toward qualifying for the elite team. Avalanches, injury, paralysis, death, loneliness-all part of international ski racing-are predictable dangers compared with the corruption of coaches. Lia Erickson learns how to grapple with these challenges in her ski journey through the Sierra Nevadas and the European Alps, eventually gaining courage from her teammates and herself.

"How does it feel going 70 mph on skis? What is one willing to risk or do to make the Olympic ski team? This literary novel tells all in a page-turning tale built on memorable characters. I couldn't put it down." Rosie Fortna, Olympic ski racer

About the author: Lee Hall Delfausse has been a national champion in two sports. She has national titles as a World Cup ski racer and has since competed in USTA national tennis championships winning 23 Gold balls in singles and doubles. She has taught American  Literature and writing and coached tennis at The Derryfield School, New Hampshire Technical Institute and Bishop Brady High School.

Boggis Comedy Presents

Headliner;

Abhishek Shah

You have heard him on NPR's The Moth, and now you  can see him live in Concord. Having moved to the U.S. from India, a young man decides it's time to try beef. Only problem: he's Jain, a religion in which it is expressly forbidden to eat meat. and now he must tell the one person who will disapprove more than anyone: his mom.

Abhishek Shah performs stand-up comedy and storytelling all over Massachusetts. Originally from Mumbai, India, he has won several local stand-up competitions
as well as a Massmouth emerging talent in storytelling award. By day, he works as a biomedical engineer — though making people laugh, he claims, is his true passion.

Special guest: Karen Margaret

Karen is a live wire from the Granite State. Her wry observations about her early life in Massachusetts and her current life in NH have been winning crowds over for the past two years.
